Eid Al Etihad 2025: New Abu Dhabi mosques to be named after seven emirates
This initiative promotes national identity and community connection
ABU DHABI – President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed that seven mosques in Abu Dhabi be named after the seven Emirates of the UAE, coinciding with the nationwide celebrations of the 54th Eid Al Etihad.
The initiative aims to reinforce the values and spirit of the Union among current and future generations, highlighting the country’s legacy of generosity, unity, and progress.
Dr Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, confirmed that the mosques are located in Mohamed bin Zayed City and collectively accommodate around 6,000 worshippers. The project has been executed in partnership with the Presidential Court, the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi.
Modern heritage
Covering an approximate area of 12,000 square metres, the mosques are scheduled to open for worshippers in January next year.
Dr Al Darei highlighted that each mosque features a modern architectural design that blends Islamic art and heritage with contemporary innovation, offering a peaceful and comfortable environment for worshippers.
He also expressed appreciation for the President’s ongoing support, emphasising the role of mosques in fostering community connection and enhancing their service to society.
